What were you doing in 1994?

Friday, 20 June 2014 | Muhammad Awais

Yelling ‘Run Forrest Run!’ or watching John Travolta fire his way around Pulp Fiction? No mobile phones or Google! The world was shocked as no.1 ice skater Nancy Kerrigan was taken out at the knees and John Bobbitt got some rearranging of his own. We were singing (or cursing) Ace of Base as they flooded the airwaves and Australia was yet to get cable TV.

Well, one thing we know: what the Raiders were doing! Winning the NRL Grand Final!

This Friday night, the Raiders will celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the 1994 Grand Final, with the entire team playing in special Legacy jerseys which they’ll sign after the match against the Bulldogs at GIO Stadium. Several players from the Raiders premiership team will also be there on the night to celebrate, including Mal Meninga, Laurie Daley, Brett Mullins, Ken Nagas and Steve Walters.

For one week, the unique jerseys are available through Allbids, with all proceeds from this special auction going to The Cancer Support Group. The Raiders local partner charity supports families in the Eden-Monaro and ACT regions who are affected by cancer. They reduce financial stress for those families and provide support during cancer treatment.

Each jersey is printed with the name of every Raiders Player from 1982 until the end of the 2013 season,
as well as the club’s original logo and premiership years. These 18 unique and valuable collectors’ items are up for auction now! We want to raise as much as we can for The Cancer Support Group, so click HERE to start your bidding.
