Construction Cadet

One of Canberra’s leading mid-tier commercial construction firms is looking to hire an enthusiastic young person to join their team of male and female construction cadets.

First and foremost, you will have a passion for the building industry and preferably have demonstrated a commitment to pursuing a career in construction either through at least 6 months working in the industry or by enrolling in related study (or both).

As a construction cadet you will get hands-on experience across multiple commercial projects doing various tasks both on-site, and in the office. The wide variety of work will expand your knowledge of all facets of construction, supercharge your professional growth and help you find what you are passionate about, whilst giving you learning opportunities that cannot be acquired in the classroom. You will also be accommodated with time off for study and exams.

Your work will be highly varied and may include: contract administration, estimating quantities, safety walks, preparation and review of consultant contracts, trade procurement, project budget review, identifying and addressing defects, consultant coordination and participating in design meetings with consultants. You will be supported at all levels on your cadet journey including close working relationships with directors and other senior members of the company. Cadets typically progress through the company to become junior foremen.

To apply for this role please email jane@tbp.com.au as soon as possible attaching a brief resume including the names and mobile numbers of at least two employer referees, and explain why you’d like to be a construction cadet and what you believe you could bring to the role.
