A moment with Rob Evans, CEO and founder of ALLBIDS
Rob Evans, CEO and founder of ALLBIDS.com.au established the online auction site in 2004 – an innovative development that transformed his traditional auction business into the e commerce business it is today.
Prior to ALLBIDS, Rob studied a Degree in Accounting that took him to London in the early 1990s. He returned to Canberra during the 2000s to setup his own valuation and auction company before progressing into the online space.
In 2002, Rob combined his work and love for the NRL when he decided to sponsor local NRL team, the Canberra Raiders. Rob is unbelievably passionate about the Raiders, so much so that his phone is turned off during the game and there is only Raiders related talk allowed! He can however view the ALLBIDS sponsorship sign from his seat.
Rob’s is a keen golfer, long term member of the Royal Canberra Golf Club and member of the Club’s Board. He is passionate about the Club and his own game.
In recent years, Rob has taken up running and has competed in marathons including New York, Berlin and Melbourne marathons. Rob believes running is great for the soul, “A morning running clears the mind – it is a no phone zone and prepares me for the day ahead”.
Although Rob enjoys activities that don’t require connection to the outside world, while at work he is digitally connected – attending to business, sourcing new items for auction or checking auction listings and sales online. Being part of the digital space is critical to his role and is fundamental to the operation of his online auction business.
