1965 saw the introduction of the new and improved third-generation
Ford Galaxie with the leaf
style suspension from the previous-gen dropped and a new and improved coil
sprung three-link system fitted for a better handling and
comfortable drive. In 1966 Ford would release the "7-litre" option, a range topping full size luxury car fitted with a 428ci V8 with this engine later being named the Cobra Jet 428. Due to the hefty price tag and the Mustang becoming a hit the Galaxie 7-litre would be produced in incredibly low numbers, making up less than 0.5% of the total production. Without a doubt the 7-litre Hardtop has become the most collectable Galaxie and has gained enormous traction as a slept on, true American muscle car. With many over the years suffering from rust, or having the motors ripped out for the desirable 428ci examples are very hard to come by, particularly Australia where it is believed there are less than 5 examples.
On offer is this sublime example of the rare and highly collectable Galaxie 500 7-Litre finished in arguably the best colour combo of Tahoe Turquoise with a black vinyl roof with a full matching turquoise interior. It is clear the car has been cared for throughout its life as shown by the unbelievable condition throughout the vehicle. A large amount of paperwork is included including receipts for work carried out overseas over the last few decades as well title & registration paperwork from Oklahoma USA in 2016, NSW compliance certificate and the Australian import approval. The car has also carried full NSW registration making for a simple registration process. The vendor has noted the car recently underwent an engine rebuild with some performance upgrades with approximately 500hp now being produced, making this already powerful muscle car a true street animal. It is clear to see from the high-res images provided that this car is something special and it is bound to impress the lucky buyer.
These 7-litres are incredibly hard to find in this condition even in the USA and you will be lucky to ever find one like it again. This will prove to be a unbelievable investment and have seen some massive price gains in the USA recently.
