HSV was a joint venture between Tom Walkinshaw & Holden and was introduced in 1987 as the performance vehicle sector of Holden after controversies around the HDT Director and Energy Polarizer from Peter Brock's HDT vehicle sector. The VE Series Holden was announced in July 2006, and by August '06 the new range of HSV models were being released. The 6.0lt LS2 was still being utilised from the VZ series but with 13hp increase in power thanks to an updated exhaust system.

This 2007 HSV GTS VE is build number #1057 which has been finished in the desirable Phantom black. This example has recently undergone a rebuild with an array of upgrades fitted at the same time helping this tough GTS produce a very healthy 351kw or 470hp at the rear wheels. This includes:
- LS2 V8 fully rebuilt
- ACL race main bearings
- ACL race rod bearings
- ARP 2000 rod bolts
- SRP fly cut forged pistons
- SRP I-beam connecting rods
