The first. The original. The car that started in all for Australian cars.The 48-215 was given the FX name badge to designate the difference between the early 48-215 and the post 1953 models with the updated suspension, this however was never an official designation. The original design was created for the American market by General Motors, but was told to be too small for the market and therefore pushed for the Australian market.
This example has been recently just made the journey up from Melbourne, not on the back of a truck but driven to Canberra with no issues. The 138ci grey motor is backed by the standard 3-speed manual column shift (3-on-the-tree), all in good working order making for a simple cold start and drive. This FX is still running the standard 6 volt system with no holes cut for indicators as often seen added to these early examples. This FX also is fitted with the factory steering column lock and additional gauge next to steering wheel, however the lock is missing the key. The car has undergone a partial restoration inside out, which presents well, however would benefit from some of the finer details being sorted better.
This would be a great example for weekend drives, and is ready for club rego.
