ALLBIDS partner with Menslink for charity auction

ALLBIDS have teamed up with local men’s charity, Menslink, to
 auction off a number of items to raise funds to ensure continued
support for young men and their families. 

Did you know?

• About 1 in 4 young men suffer depression or anxiety (same as young women), but only 1 in 10 of them will do anything about it
  
  
• More young men die by suicide than on the roads. Lots more. In fact,
   the male rate of suicide is nearly double the national road toll (and
  three times that of women)
  
  
• 14% of young men under 18 will have a brush with the law, with the
  current ratio of young inmates at AMC Detention Centre (under 25yo) is
  60:1 male:female
  
  
• Young men drop out of high school at double the rate of young women
  before completing Y12. Of the group that starts University, young men
  are twice as likely to drop out before completing a degree
  
  
• 32% of all families now are raised by single mums. We provide a lot
  of help to single mums as their sons transition through difficult times
  into adulthood

Menslink is a small charity with seven permanent staff and very low overheads. All of the money raised in the auction will be used directly to provide support to young men in Canberra, through volunteer mentoring services, free counselling and their Silence is Deadly campaign in schools.

Menslink has been supporting young men in the Canberra region for over ten years. . During this time  Menslink have helped thousands of young guys get through tough or lonely times and develop into responsible, productive and contributing adult men.

This local charity aims to help young men achieve their full potential, because they believe everything is possible for them, their families and our community. All of Menslink’s services are free to young blokes and their families.
