Emerging Environmental Standards

ALLBIDS actively practice sustainable processes that encompass environmental, economic and social responsible outcomes however a growing set of environmental needs are emerging.

These needs will require cultural, structural and legislative changes if they are to be addressed sustainably. The environmental needs arise from a need for drastic improvements in the efficiency of operations, the utilisation of resources and the management of environmental recycling. ALLBIDS is here to assist and take the pain of E-waste management away by providing a single point of contact for all services.

E-Waste

E-waste, consisting of discarded computers and electronic goods, is among the fastest growing type of waste in the world (five times normal waste rates). According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). Australians buy more than 2.4 million new computers each year. It estimates Australians will have discarded or stockpiled a total of nine million computers, five million printers and two million scanners within the next two years.

ALLBIDS’ specialises in the facilitation of total recycling of redundant assets and end of life E-waste including computer equipment, monitors, TVs, mobile phones and other miscellaneous electronic materials and peripherals.

The nature of our business means we do from time to time receive goods which have no commercial value, are faulty or damaged and therefore require recycling. ALLBIDS practices environmentally sound management of these obsolete goods or hazardous wastes. ALLBIDS takes all practicable steps to ensure that all recycled goods, hazardous wastes or other wastes are managed in a manner which will protects human health and the environment against the adverse effects which may result from such wastes.

Solution

ALLBIDS actively provides a solution to your disposal requirements that directly addresses many of the problems associated with E-waste facing the world of today, including diminishing resources, increased energy and water use, dangerous levels of carbon emissions and ever-growing levels of waste and E-waste generation

You are no doubt reading this as you are trying to respond to internal and external pressures from stakeholders, shareholders, the community, your customers and regulators, to show you are complying with recycling requirements that are becoming ever more stringent and will become more stringent.

Environmental Management Plan

ALLBIDS understands your needs and has an Environmental Management Plan (“EMP”) that recognises your needs and cost effectively complies with legislative regulations and most importantly saves finite natural resources, reduces landfill by 98% and prevents hazardous waste being released into the environment. Certificates acknowledging the environmental disposal of assets can be arranged for all disposals performed under the ALLBIDS EMP.

ALLBIDS’ understands that recycling is the most significant thing that we can do to help our environment within the field of asset management. By recycling your end of life assets ALLBIDS can drastically improve your eco-efficiency in ways that generate outcomes reflecting the highest concern for the environment.

ALLBIDS’ EMP is designed to seamlessly increase the eco-efficiency of your disposals and end of life asset operations.

Although Australia is one of the few developed countries that still allows E-waste to be dumped in landfill, ALLBIDS’ along with it’s environmentally aware and dedicated clients is committed to preventing E-waste reaching landfill. Dumping assets should be a thing of the past as dumped assets are broken up and over time leaching toxins into groundwater, contaminating soil, waterways and ultimately the wider ecosystem. Under the ALLBIDS EMP we are already able to prevent this from happening. All it takes is your commitment to join us.

Sale or Recycling?

Wherever possible ALLBIDS firstly looks to sell at auction all items received from vendors thereby achieving 100% re-use of the asset. ALLBIDS’ recycles items where they are faulty, damaged or rated as of no commercial value.

Prior to recycling items we endeavour to strip out components of any value and sell these components on behalf of the vendor. Should however items require recycling ALLBIDS maintains a strict policy for disposals based on e-waste EPA guidelines. ALLBIDS are committed to a 100% no landfill policy. Any items recycled are sent to recognized recycling companies (Eg: Simms Recycling) which break down the items into base materials which then can be reused.

ALLBIDS sells on average 99% of all items actually listed for auction/sale on our web site. For items which are not sold ALLBIDS recycles all un-saleable goods where appropriate through recognized recycling partners and processes.

Our recycling partners utilise recycling methods which comply with the Hazardous Waste (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act 1989 and the Basel Convention.

Whether assets are sold or recycled ALLBIDS’ EMP offers holistic end-of-life recycling services which are auditable and guarantee you the secure and environmentally friendly disposition of your electronic equipment. ALLBIDS’ will only use accredited computer recyclers and electronic waste companies which are governed by ISO140001 standards.

ALLBIDS’ offers the complete disposal solution with a single point of contact including the arrangement of all security requirements and de-installation and transport logistics for all E-waste.

Basel Convention

The Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements o f Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal is the most comprehensive global environmental agreement on hazardous and other wastes. The Convention has 172 Parties and aims to protect human health and the environment against the adverse effects resulting from the generation, management, transboundary movements and disposal of hazardous and other wastes. ALLBIDS endorses and supports the Basel Convention and opposes the transferral of e-waste to developing countries where it is disposed of in non-compliant and environmentally devastating ways. ALLBIDS does not transport end of life assets overseas. ALLBIDS promotes the responsible and effective recycling of Australian assets within Australia.

ALLBIDS recycles all common metal-based E-waste products, such PC covers, racks and high metal content items. We also recycle electronics and IT equipment containing both metals and plastics, including computers, CRT monitors, televisions, mobile phones, server equipment, iPods and gaming consoles. With our partners ALLBIDS’ is also able to recycle leaded glass, a known environmental hazard from computer monitors and televisions, in such a way that the total glass recovery rate is in excess of 99%.

ALLBIDS’ is committed to staying in front of recycling requirements and embracing new and better technologies. ALLBIDS’ is pro-active in developing solutions within the scope of our customers operations that mean we are not simply waiting at the end of the life cycle to collect waste but are dealing with all assets in an eco-efficient, cost effective and sustainable manner.
